HOUSTON -- A 3-year-old boy watched as his father killed his mother and then turned the gun on himself, deputies told KPRC Local 2.

Casey Pelfrey's boyfriend, George Shaffer, 21, showed up unexpectedly at the home where she was living with relatives, officials said.

Investigators said Pelfrey, 19, walked up to Shaffer's truck to talk to him. The couple's son was with her and hopped in the truck.

Shortly after talking to her, Shaffer shot her then shot himself, detectives said.

Pelfrey died at the scene. Shaffer was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

"She told him that she didn't want to be with him anymore and she didn't want to be with him anymore -- that she needed to get away from him. He scared her and she just needed time. And he said, 'Well, if I can't have you, nobody's going to have you.' And then he shot her and shot himself in front of the 3-year-old son," said Shawna Mueller, the victim's sister.

Pelfrey's relatives said there was a lot of violence during the couple's four-year on-again, off-again relationship.

Sunday night he pulled off a seamless escape from a prison in Florence, jumping into a 2006 silver Toyota Sequoia with his visiting wife and speeding away.

On Thursday morning, he drove to his wife's former home near Bennett and fatally shot her and his toddler daughter.

Then he killed himself.

He was Colorado's troubled "Spam King," a computer whiz who made millions only to see his life come crashing down, ending on a quiet basin of prairie.

Dirt roads carve the path to the yellow two-story house where police found the lifeless bodies of Edward Davidson, 35, and his wife and child, after responding to a call at 11:15 a.m.

Davidson was found outside the driver's side of the vehicle, his wife by the passenger side.

A handgun lay nearby.

His dead 3-year-old daughter was in the back of the vehicle. A 7-month-old boy was strapped in his baby seat, unharmed.

One of Davidson's bullets grazed the neck of a 14-year-old girl, who neighbors said was Davidson's oldest daughter.

She escaped to a neighbor's home and was able to tell deputies what had happened before she was transported to a hospital. She was treated and released late Thursday.

"What a nightmare, and such a coward," said U.S. Attorney Troy Eid. "Davidson imposed the death penalty on family members for his own crime."

DECATUR, Ga. -- DeKalb County police are investigating a double shooting in which a father appears to have shot and killed his 1-year-old daughter and then killed himself.

DeKalb County police officer Marcus Hodge says Mario Roberts, 21, was arguing with his child's mother in the couple's car when he pulled out a gun and shot their daughter, Amari Roberts. It appears the father then shot himself, Hodge said.

Officials said they were visiting the child's maternal grandmother's home to celebrate Easter. "They were over here visiting them and they were in the driveway when this occurred," said Hodge.

Police say the father and child were rushed to separate hospitals. The girl was later pronounced dead.

The father was also pronounced dead early Monday morning.

A ten-year-old girl found both her parents dead after her father apparently murdered his wife - and then killed himself.

The child made the horrific discovery after coming down for breakfast on Saturday morning.

After finding her father, 28, named locally as Getu Asefaw, hanging in the hallway of the house in Leeds, she is said to have rushed upstairs to tell her mother, only to find she, too, was dead.

The girl is being cared for by social services.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- A mother intentionally set herself and her two children on fire in a storage room at a Winter Haven motel last week, investigators said.

All three died in the blaze.

It's not known what led Priyakumari Master, 25, to kill herself, along with her daughter, Mahi, 3, and her son, Milan, 1. Autopsy results are pending.

Fire investigators said they found a melted cigarette lighter and a plastic gasoline container inside the room.

WEDDINGTON, N.C. -- A mother killed her daughter and then herself in their Weddington home late last week, authorities said after discovering their bodies on Monday.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office was asked to do a well-being check at a home in the Weddington Woods community just after 4 p.m. Monday. When an officer arrived, he found 34-year-old Christa Higgins Childester dead in the attic and the body of her 9-year-old daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Higgins, in her bed in an adjoining bedroom.

Authorities have not said how the two were killed, but they said the deaths happened on Friday. They said the woman left notes detailing the crime and specific instructions on how her personal affairs should be handled.

Det. Kevin Rogers, the lead investigator in the case, said Childester had been distraught lately due to personal problems. He said she divorced last year, had financial troubles and was unemployed.

Police arriving at the home of a retired British school teacher to tell her that her husband was critically injured in a car crash instead stumbled on a gruesome find — the woman's battered corpse stuffed among the presents under the couple's Christmas tree.

Police in West Sussex, England, say Roger Goswell, 66, rammed his car into a tree just two miles from their home, after bludgeoning his wife, Susan, 61, and crudely trying to hide her body beneath the tree, the Daily Mail newspaper reported. Roger Goswell later died at the hospital.
