Police Say Mother Hid Newborn In Bag, Left Him In Closet:

Reason to Blow Up the World...

An Alaska woman who is accused of killing her newborn baby by putting him in a bag and shoving it in a closet was booked into a jail in Grand Junction Friday.

Morgan Hite, 22, was extradited from Alaska on charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her son in February, reported the Daily Sentinel.

According to the arrest affidavit, while visiting her parents on Feb. 25, Hite delivered the child in a neighbor's bathtub.

Hite had been hiding her pregnancy from her parents, the affidavit said. She then carried the baby back to her parent's house and put it in a plastic bag.

Two months later, Hite's parents, looking for a strong smell, discovered the decaying body and contacted police, the affidavit said.

If you're an adult why in the hell are you hiding a pregnancy from your parents especially if you live in Alaska? Was the neighbor who owned the bathtub home at the time? If so why would they allow something like this? Then to top it all off she just leaves the baby in her parents closet and she already has one child.

One point for hiding the pregnancy, one point for stuffing the baby in a plastic bag, another point for then leaving the body in her parent's closet, and one point for the whole shady neighbor deal. That's four.

Safe Haven Laws Far-Reaching, But Remain Problem-Ridden:
This is a great article about safe haven laws from The Bulletin in Philadelphia. However it doesn't address whether or not the laws are publicly well known enough.

Oregon

St. Helens Newborn Found In Toilet:
Reason to Blow Up the World...

ST. HELENS, Ore. -- A mother abandoned her newborn baby girl in a toilet at a St. Helens nursing facility, police said Tuesday.

Police said their investigation showed the 21-year-old mother, who works at the nursing facility, tried to kill the baby and cover up her existence.

A co-worker found the baby in a toilet around noon on Valentine’s Day. Police said a well-trained nursing staff played a key role in the baby’s survival.

The mother’s baby girl and 3-year-old son have been taken into protective custody by the Oregon Department of Human Services.

No arrests have been made. Police said it’s important to note that a parent may leave a newborn child at a hospital, birthing center, sheriff's office, fire station, physician's office or police department under Oregon’s Safe Haven law. The parent isn’t required to provide any identifying information about the infant or the parent.

Are the Safe Haven laws that obscure that this keeps happening.

One point for leaving your own baby in a toilet, one point for the attempted cover up, and another point for having your other kid taken away for a total of 3.

Birth control people, it's there for a reason. And if it's not effective and you really don't want to have kids you could always...oh I don't know...not have sex.

Personal responsibility does yet another death.

Reason to Blow Up the World: The fact that a 16-year-old boy did not have the mental capacity to know that you don't kill your own father with a shotgun then lead authorities on a one hour high speed chase because he didn't bring you a snow cone. Fitting that it's the cooler for you.

North Carolina

Reason to Blow Up the World: How about the fact that North Carolina has Safe Surrender laws where they have one week to turn over the baby to the police, hospital, or fire dept., etc. without fear of prosecution. Not only that but wasn't "a woman's right to choose" also supposed to prevent this? I didn't think ditch was one of the choices.

6 in N.C. face child porn charges:
Reason to Blow Up the World: How about the fact that child porn even exists in this world? You know you always hear about the law catching the users but never the producers. You'd think the governments of the world would be united in that battle. I guess not.

Police: Woman Tries To Sell 18-Month-Old For Prostitution:
Reason to Blow Up the World:It's not bad enough that the woman tried to sell her 18-month-old child for sex but when the police came to check on the child they found the mother passed out and the child eating cigarettes. Lending further credence to the idea that parents should have to take a test before having any children.

North Carolina

Mother charged with murder after 8-year-old dies in trunk:
Reason to Blow Up the World: That a woman would lock her 8-year-old son in a car trunk for more than 16 hours because of a "baby sitting issue". Here's a tip. If you can't find a sitter then don't go.

Texas

Man charged in death of 11-year-old in Dallas:
Reason to Blow Up the World: The fact that not only any 33-year-old man would want to have sex with an 11-year-old girl but also that he had to kill her over it. What makes it worse is that the killer was a guest in the house where the victim was attending a sleepover. Notice the terms "trailer" and "mobile home park" in the article.

Rape Victim's Mom Sent Nude Pics to Suspect:
Reason to Blow Up the World: Not only did the mother of the rape victim send nude photos of the victim to the rapist the victim is only 13-years-old. What large chunk of your brain needs to be missing for someone to think that selling kiddie porn of your own daughter was a good idea? Fucking morons.

Reason to Blow Up the World: That any human would think that they have any reason to starve a 3-year-old boy. Look at the picture of the house in the article. This isn't exactly Cracktown or Meth Acres we're talking. To make it worse the father of the child failed to report the abuse.

Illinois

Chicago Woman Charged With Kidnapping, Dumping Baby:
Reason to Blow Up the World: Not only because the woman had the baby kidnapped right out of it's mother's arms so she could keep her trucker boyfriend around but when she changed her mind she didn't return the baby to a hospital or a police station but she dumped the baby in a trashcan. And what idiot would risk a prison term for felony kidnapping for $3000 split two ways?

Woman arrested with 2 children in trunk:
Reason to Blow Up the World: Again I ask what piece of their brains are these people missing? It must be Trunk Day or something. Anyway the reason is why would you try and cram 9 people in a Corrolla for a 60-mile trip let alone putting two of those people who are children in the trunk? Here's another tip for ya. If you can't find safe transportation then don't go.
