News of Doom 2.0 ::
About
Back in 2002 I posted my first News of Doom story at my original blog TheTrenchcoat Chronicles. Back then it was my all-purpose blog. It was a horrible story about animal abuse that made me so angry in a way that other stories hadn't That post garnered so much I decided to make stories like that a regular feature. People seem to want to be pissed off. Later on the feature was called Blow Up the World because the stories made me wish that as a race humans don't deserve to exist for the way we treat each other. That's when I started half-jokingly saying that I'm taking a Doomsday Device to the North Pole to blow up the world. I eventually shortened the feature's name to News of Doom.
In 2005 I started keeping track of which US states had the most stories of Doom and on July 30, 2005 I spun News of doom off into its own site.
In 2005 I kept score by awarding one point to each story. Florida came out on top/bottom that year. In 2006 and 2007 there was a voting system that you could rate the stories on how horrible they were on a scale of 1-5. Florida won both those years as well. In 2008 I award points based on what I perceive to be offenses against humanity. So far as of this writing (April 2008) Florida is in the lead. Do you notice a pattern?
I only deal with stories about crime because to me crime is the basest acts of cruelty and it's usually so personal. I also only deal with 'civilized' nations, mostly English speaking countries, for the reason that I think we've become so spoiled as a society that some people resort to these heinous acts of crime for the most selfish reasons.
People ask me what constitutes a story that's Doom-worthy. It's hard to define when I see one it just clicks in my head. The problem is I've become jade over the past 5 1/2 years to the bar keeps getting raised on what is or isn't Doom-worthy.
This site is not intended to disrespect the victims of these brutal crimes.It is however intended to disrespect the lowlife criminals that have committed these crimes. Hence the terms, scumbag, loser, and assclown.
You may see the terms FBO and DSD used in some stories. These are terms I use for 'parents' that commit crimes against their children and don't deserve to be called parents. FBO stands for Female Birth Organism while DSD stands for Defective Sperm Donor.
Anyway welcome to News of Doom, depressing but addictive.
