DETROIT -- Police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old infant, who was shot in the head after armed gunmen sprayed a hail of bullets into the picture window of his mother's apartment early Sunday.

The incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. at the Premier apartments in the 18000 block of Lasher on the city's west side, Deputy Chief Marshall Lyons said. About 10-13 bullets shattered the picture window, with at least one slug striking Walter Bogan III. The child was taken to Sinai-Grace Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe the shooting was a result of an argument between two groups of men, but officials do not know the nature of the conflict.

The infant was lying on the couch next to his 25-year-old mother near the front door when the shooting happened. They were the only people inside the apartment, police said.

"We are trying to figure out why they were targeted. But this was not random," Lyons said. "The mother is helping the best she can. She is naturally distraught."

There was no known drug activity at the apartment or any reports of calls for police service at the complex, police said.

Other neighbors said they were awakened by the sound of several shots Sunday morning but declined to comment, fearing the shooters' return.

In another article City Council President Monica Conyers called for Michigan to bring back the death penalty for baby killers. Wait. You mean a state that contains Detroit doesn't have the death penalty. That explains a lot.

Murder charges expected against teens in Pontiac crime spree:

Police expect to file murder charges against two 14-year-old boys and a 15-year-old who police say were roving through Pontiac on a three-day crime spree.

The three boys, all Jefferson Middle School students who live in Pontiac, are accused of attacking homeless men and people walking downtown Thursday through Saturday.

One of the homeless men, Wilford “Frenchie” Hamilton, died Monday night at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital after he was removed from life support.

The boys, who “lawyered up” and aren’t talking to investigators, are being held in the Oakland County Children’s Village, Braddock said.

Hamilton’s beating Thursday night was the first during the spree. Hamilton was found unconscious with head injuries by POH security personnel in an alley behind the hospital’s daycare center. Friday night, another homeless man was beaten so severely, he remains in critical condition at POH, Braddock said. He is expected to live, Braddock added.

Raymond McCowen, the night attendant at the Phoenix Center parking garage at Woodward and Auburn, had heard about the attacks from police. So when a group of boys went running through the structure, he chased them and caught one. Police caught the two other boys a short time later, and the last victim identified the boys as his attackers.

Charge them as adults and give them the max. I don't care if they're just teens. They lose at life.

One point for each beating (4), another point for the murder, another point for thinking you're a bunch of hardcore criminals when you're just some punks. That's six.

Couple Charged In Charred Baby Remains Case:

DETROIT -- A couple was arraigned on charges in the death of a 2-year-old boy Deante after his charred remains were found hidden in the basement ceiling.

Police said the parents burned the child's dead body on the home barbecue grill to cover up his death.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Joseph Miller III, 28, and Nickello L. Reid, 23, both of Detroit.

During a child abuse investigation into the couple's 1-year-old, police were called to a relative's home located in the 15000 block of Lapin in Detroit, on Nov. 22, where they discovered the burned remains of their 2-year-old in a plastic bag hidden in the basement ceiling.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner said the investigation into the cause of death was inconclusive. However, the child suffered from malnutrition, numerous broken bones, disease and abuse.

Four other children lived in the couple's home and have all been removed.

Miller and Reid were also charged with abusing their 1-year-old. Police said the child is still recovering from burns suffered during a bath.

The poster children for forced sterilization. You couldn't even handle one child let alone 5. Some families can't even have children and can't afford to adopt meanwhile you two are cranking them out like a Gatling gun and don't even take care of them. Caregiver sentenced in death of woman:

It's hard to even imagine what Diana Bakich went through for five days as she was hanging suspended by a seatbelt from her tipped-over wheelchair, waiting for help that didn't come, a Washtenaw County judge said Wednesday.

During those five days in July 2004, authorities said, Georgetta Taylor - the woman who was supposed to care for the 55-year-old Bakich - was on a crack cocaine binge.

When another caregiver went to the home, she found Bakich lying on the floor, semi-conscious, where she had tipped over in her wheelchair, still suspended by the seat belt. The belt caused deep pressure wounds, and four months later, Bakich died of infections and complications resulting from the wounds.

Along with the 2 1/2 to 15 years she should be suspended from the ceiling as a crackhead pinata.

Some reports say the gun discharged accidentally but the fact that the gun was introduced at all showed a total lack of intelligence.

Anyway, not only did he suffocate his girlfriend's 6-year-old son, he stuffed him in an oven afterwards to buy himself some time. But it gets better. He was previously acquitted of murdering his 25-year-old sister who weighed 45 lbs. and had cerebral palsy by crushing her skull with a barbell. Not only that he is not facing the death penalty. Reason to Blow Up the World: Not only the fact that two 16-year-olds from Michigan lacked the intelligence and morals to think that hitting a girl in the stomach repeatedly with a baseball bat was the best way to deal with an unwanted pregnancy but also the fact that one of the teens parents thought it was ok to bury the unborn child in an open field. As far as I'm concerned this is nothing short of premeditated murder and everyone involved deserves a long stay in a federal correctional facility.
