Police: Teen Burned Alive Over Pregnancy:
Reason to Blow Up the World: Even rarer than the Sunday News of Doom story is the dreaded Saturday News of Doom story.

A 20-year-old man in Ocoee, Fla., was charged with murder after he confessed to pouring gasoline over his ex-girlfriend and then setting her on fire because she may have been pregnant, police told Local 6 News.

Winter Garden police officers investigating a report of a car fire noticed a small fire on the east side of County Road 545 on Feb. 25.

When officers extinguished the flames, they found the body of Amelia Sookdeo, 17, burned beyond recognition.

An investigation into the homicide led to Sookdeo's ex-boyfriend, Dane Abdool, 20, who at first denied any involvement in the crime, according to the report.

However, when police confronted him with inconsistencies in his story and presented a set of tire marks from his car photographed at the scene, Abdool confessed to the crime, Local 6 News reported.

"He admitted that he had met his former girlfriend that night, she sneaked out and he picked her up and went to his apartment in Ocoee," Winter Garden Police Chief George Brennan said. "From there they left and had an argument and he took her down County Road 545, forced her out of the car. He poured gasoline on her and ignited it."

Abdool told police that he was arguing with Sookdeo over her possible pregnancy and he was just trying to scare her, Local 6 News reported.

Here's the twist...

"The medical examiner found no evidence that she was having a baby," Local 6 reporter Mike DeForest said.

Way to go you scumbag. You killed your own girlfriend in one of the most brutal ways possible over something that is supposed to be so beautiful like bringing a new life into the world and she wasn't even pregnant. I hope the firs of hell burn a million times hotter for you once you get there.

My prayers and condolences go out to the Sookdeo family.

Amelia was a beautiful girl both inside and out- An A student -- One of the most loving and caring daughter and sister.

Amelia's dad-- told me this beautiful story of their relationship, he stated Aunty I. I speak with Amelia everyday at 3:30pm. Everyday, she ends her call "I love you, Dad and would send him a kiss over the phone.â?? One day he was in a meeting and did not call her at precisely 3:30pm -- he stated she called him 10 minutes later, worried something must have happened to him. I felt my nephew's pain when he shared this with me. I suggested to my nephew to take this time away everyday and spend it in memory of her.

My thoughts and Prayers go out to the Sookdeo Family..

I have a daughter that was friends with this young girl, my child has told me many times before this happened to Amelia and many times since that Amelia was a very pretty,sweet and caring girl. It is a shame her life had to end in such a horrific manner. This creep should be forced to look at a picture of this beautiful young girl everyday for the rest of his life,as I know he will someday burn in hell for what he has done.

It is a shame, what has happend to this girl- she was pretty.- Yet i do believe we are not getting the whole story, I know from heartfelt experience that the media can make a hero seem like the aggressor. I researched this case times and times again there are many different stories for ex.- one says that it was a premeditated murder and another one says it was an accident. I support the one which states it was an accident. Dane Abdool has no criminal records, he is a good kid, you people call him a "scumbag" but you do not know him do you? Dane is too good of a person to do that, you accuse him of killing her were you there did you see?:!: Maybe it was an accident! You people need to think with open minds- For god sakes! In one story it says "he told the police it was an accident, he just flicked the lighter and hes the one that caught on fire"- when on fire it is human tendancy to flap around lik a frikin bird, in panic when he caught fire, he flapped his arms and the fire jump right from him to her. It was a windy night, when there are forest fires firemen cut breaks betweeen the branches and trees but when theres even just a tiny bit of wind the fire jumps across from one side to the other even if its a ten yard break.

The problem with news is that they report what the police tell them and twist it to make it a bit more juicy.Have they talked to the family of Dane or the friends to see what type of personality this boy has,to then analyze and make a prediction of how his type of person with a personality like his does in the situation that he was?No,way too much paper work for the police.Even though they have access to technology that could process this data,too much work.They got him to confess and it doesn't matter if it was an accident or not.What about stress?Peer pressure?Not being able to support a family?Were all of these important factors ignored?Maybe he was trying to scare her into an abortion and it went terribly wrong?Will a life be destroyed because of the laziness our men and women in uniform have developed?Every child will make mistakes,some big....some small.This for Dane was one big one.I do not think this crime should go without punishment,yet i do not think he deserves a severe punishment like,death.A more deserving sentence he should be placed under house arrest and should be assigned a masssive amount of community service due to his age.It could be a type of brainwashing method to set him on the right path so he can enjoy his youth instead of rotting away in a prison because of one gigantic mistake.And my condolences to the Sookdeo and Abdool family alike.:sad:

I was an intern to be a crime scene detective.My mentor always had this saying,"Never judge a book by it's cover,untill you've read the whole story."I thought I should share that with everyone before they point the fingers at Dane.I would like the Sookdeo family to be a little more forgiving because if Dane is destroyed,the pain you are feeling because of the loss of your daughter is going to be spread to the Abdool family.Besides,maybe it's better for him to suffer for the rest of his life with the guilt of the sinful thing he did to your daughter in jail.I know no one should have to go through something like this and that you were one of many who were chosen to go through this,and for that I am sorry.But is your daughter so important to you that you are feeling so bad of a pain that you do not want any one else to go through it?He will be punished very severely if he goes to jail for life.But innocent people and children will be hurt in Dane perishes.Don't spread anymore pain then there has to be.Let your daughter rest in peace in heaven.

I agree with the comment above, Dane should not get the death penalty because as a member of his family I know that if he did, it would have a major effect on his brother sister, parents and the rest of his family. When i heard of this incident for the first time i nearly cried because i knew he would either get death or jail for life. So now im payning for to reasons 1.For Amelia's Family and 2.That Dane doesn't get the death penalty. He really is a good kid.

For those that have an opinion about Amelia, her family and the justice system, what if it was your daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, friend, cousin. What if every time you take a bite into your favorite food and you feel like you are eating a human body and you can hear their voice screaming in terror. Would you have an opinion as above? Were you there? Did you take the opportunity to put yourself in Ameliaâ??s BURNING BODY and Screaming in horror?

In my opinion --Amelia's family is the greater family here. They wanted to meet Ameliaâ??s cold and calculated murderer not to punish him but to get the truth, forgive and pray for him. The murderer would not see give us the opportunity--- please give your opinion and answer Murdererâ??s advocate and the open-mind person?

For the one's that was not there and do not know Amelia's family please know on the day of Amelia's funeral -- Amelia's family and the church prayed for her cold and calculated murderer and his family as we lay her to rest. I see greatness and power in this. For those who assume --- here is the truth --Our hearts goes out to the cold and calculated murdererâ??s family. We cannot imagine what it must be like to give birth and raise Damien.

Amelia was a beautiful soul and we cannot bring her back. She is in a good place.

Amelia did not deserved what happened to her. We know justice will be done. Today, we say, due to her horrific and senseless death -- we honor and will cherish her.

I invite anyone with an opinion â?? to light a candle for this beautiful child. I also invite them to assist Ameliaâ??s family in praying for the cold and calculated murderer and his accomplices to come clean. I was always happy and anxious to see them they are such great people. Dane and his little bro are two kids i have always looked up to, yet i was too shy ever to actually tell them that. When i heard of this incident i literaly cried for hours and hours, i got absolutely no sleep(actually i think i may have failed the Fcat because of it).

It may come to Amelia's family as a suprise but today i still love dane as much and i still look up to him as the same kid i called my hero. Dane and his brother are still my greatest rollmodels. Why you ask do i still think of Dane as a rollmodel and my lifetime hero?- well because at first i must admit i was super mad at him (because he had not only ruined his life but also this beautiful Amelias life.) He was who he was and he did what he did. He was a good kid and he did the worst thing ever but i foregave him and out of the kindness of your hearts i beg you to forgive him too, dont be mad at him anymore because you lost your neice but forgive him because before all this, he was a good kid with his own dreams and accomplishments-

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that so many people are supporting Dane. What he did was not an accident and no "good person" would do something like that. Dane was and has always been a munipulating, back stabbing liar. His family should not take pity on him simply because they were not in his thoughts the night he decided to do something so terrible. Had his brother or sisters faces came into his head while he was pouring gasoline all over her body.. maybe he would've stopped. But he didnt.. he lit her on fire then went and got a car wash to hide the evidence. Furthermore, I happen to know that Dane knew about Amelia's pregnancy before that night.. so everything about his story is a complete lie. He didnt "find out that night and get upset and try to scare her." He'd known for months, and continued seeing her on a regular basis.. lying to his OTHER girlfriend the entire time. Dane was NOT the "good person" so many of his supporters are trying to portray.. he regularly cheated on his girlfriend and lied to his family. Amelia was head over heels in love with this boy and how dare anyone try to say that she was "not such a good girl because she was pregnant at 17." She thought Dane was the "one" and she treated him like a god. Had Dane really wanted to end their pseudo-relationship then he'd have changed his cell phone number or blocked her from calling.. she didn't have a car so there would've been no other means for her to get in touch with him.. but Dane didn't do that.. Dane continued seeing her on the side until things got too stressful between him and his REAL girlfriend and he decided he could get away with murder.. but he didnt. Dane's friends and family need to see Dane for what he really is.. a murderer. Regardless of the person they thought he was, he took another persons life in an incredibly violent and painful manner and because of that FACT, Dane deserves to remain in prison for the rest of his life, or face the death penalty. He wasn't thinking about his family the night that he burned Amelia alive, and he should be forgotten just as they were forgotten by him.

I can't help but wonder about the kind of family (parents) Amelia had. Imagine a young girl who had on several occasions left home for days and would then return seems very dysfunctional. All the love her family are talking about now, should have been given to her while she was alive, maybe then she would not be so desperate to love someone who apparently did not love her at all. I feel sorry for Amelia, that she never had a stable home life, with proper role models. If she truly had real love, encouragement and support, her choices in life would be quite different. It is known by many people in this area that Amelia was brutally beaten several times by her frustrated mother, that child suffered physically, mentally and emotionally. I blame the parents for Amelia's fate, they failed to be true parents.

Amelia, only 17, so absolutely beautiful was indeed living a fast life and it's simply because home was not home. While the parents want Dane Abdool to get the death penalty, they need to examine themselves, and if they have a conscience, they would want the death penalty for themselves. Their lack of proper parental guidance caused their child to make the wrong choices and as a result she perished. As for Dane Abdool, God and the Law will decide his fate.

I agree that if you dont know what ur talking about then u probably shouldnt say anything.. but the fact of the matter is that i DO know what im talkin about. While Dane certainly did an excellent job of covering up most of his lies.. that doesn't change the fact that he WAS in fact a lying, manipulating person. I spent quite a bit of time with him and his family and he CONSTANTLY lied to his parents, friends and girlfriend. I'm very sorry that such a terrible thing had to happen to his family but I feel even sorrier for the family of Amelia. There is no way to compare the family of the murderer and the victim.. Danes family can and do visit Dane on a regular basis.. however it will be some time before Amelias family get to see her again. It's funny, how you are so certain of details in the crime, dane's advocate... Don't you know that the police does not advise all details of a crime before a trial? She was thrown in a ditch, but that fact has not reached the media. There are other facts that have not been revealed, but this is clearly not an accident. And regardless of how Dane lived his life up to the point that he lit that child on fire, he became a heinous monster once he did. And as far as Amelia's teenage angst, how many children out there are unhappy with their lives. Unfortunately this person had a great deal to do with her unhappiness. It really is irrelevant to the crime. She did not commit suicide, where perhaps her state of mind would matter. This child did not deserve to die, no matter what. And to continue to defend Dane is a losing cause. The prosecutors did right by going for the death penalty and I hope I am present when he does die. Before this crime, I was anti death penalty, but when I think of the future he stole from this child my blood boils with rage. And if you think that setting people on fire, like you stated earlier is okay, then you are as sick as the bastard that did this to Amelia, so no wonder you are defending him.

Dane Abdool's issues were obviously a product of his own immoral actions: Lying to women, cheating on them, abusing them and then eventually murdering one. I shouldn't have to defend myself on this website however, I think its humorous that people would be so quick to call me a backstabber. I absolutely ADORE Rian and his family. The only reason I commented on this page was to ask Gabby to stop writing such horrible things in the name of the family. Saying that Dane should've burned more people alive and calling everyone "frikin retards" was making the family look very insensitive. I love Rian and his family and like I said before, I'm very sorry that all this had to happen. I only stated my opinion and my personal experience with Dane. I do not feel Dane is above the law. I do not feel any human being on this planet is above the law.. so it's obvious that I feel Dane should pay for his crime. I'm not sure where you got the idea that i did all these horrible things to their family, of course me and his mother or another family member may have had some run ins here or there but that doesnt change the way i feel about his family. Sorry to Amelia's Father and family. I was brought up better then the way it was shown in my previous comments and im very sorry for the way all this has turned out for you. My parents raised me better than to say things like "he should have burned you stupid people" im very sorry. I have no relation at all to Dane and would like all of you to excuse my unapropriate comments. I lost my Grandmother die a couple months ago. It was very very painful to my family and an extreme loss. My grandfather now cries himself to sleep at night. Its been a few months now and still she has not been forgotten and will never be forgotten. Im 13yrs old My name is Gabby and im very sorry for your unfortunate loss. I pray for god to send angels down upon the family of amelia and comfort them, to give them signs that she is in heaven watching over them and to lay hand upon them and pray...May Amelia never be forgotten, may she be in heaven standing with god and flying with the angels.
Amelia had a bright future and did not deserve this fait. Im sorry Please forgive me for my disgusting language and words. I lost hours of sleep knowing Amelia had died, it was a painful death. And hopefully noone will ever have to go through it again.

To all involved in this tragedy,
I am Gabby's mother. This website has just come to my attention. I first want to apologize for my daughters words or insensitivity. This is a terrible time for you and I could not imagine the feeling of losing a child. My condolences to you.
I have lost a loved one not too long ago, February 2,2006. It was a long and painful journey that the Lord brought me through. I had to watch my mother suffer for almost a year after being diagnosed with ALS. We were fortunate enough to be with her until her last breath to say goodbye. I want you to know that Gabby was there with me by choice and observed the departure of my mother from earth into God's loving hands. I thought she handled it well but perhaps now I see that she didn't. Perhaps this was her way of expressing her hurt and anger that yet another tragedy occured in her life.But whatever the reason we are truly sorry and ask for forgiveness.
I wondered how it is possible for things to happen to the ones we love. My faith in God has helped me deal with this lose and I pray that His joy will be your strength. I don't know why our children do the things they do. I can only instill values and morals in their lives and pray that God would watch over them and guide them.
I am praying for all of you!

I think Gabby was acting out of love for Dane , and she really has interacted with him and loves as I myself do, he is such a wonderful and good person I just wish you all never started this site , please let's end it here lots of people are hurting in this and Gabby is one of them , she just wanted to respond to the ugly hateful comments being said about Dane and she knows him to be different , we understand and forgive you Gabby . Amelia is where she is loved in Heaven and her family will heal but they will never forget her , regardless of what problems and issues she had there was bad influences around her who encouraged it and I hope they have learned a lesson from this as we have all had . I hope Amelia's Dad coverts and loves his other kids so this will not happen to him again and I hope her Mom forgives herself for the way she treated her , I know that God has forgiven.
