Investigators are awaiting DNA test results but said Monday they are "fairly confident" that the body a fisherman found in a plastic box Oct. 29 is that of Riley Ann Sawyers. Her mother, Kimberly Dawn Trenor, and stepfather, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, were arrested early Saturday and are in custody on charges of hurting the girl.

Zeigler attempted suicide last week and wrote a note saying, "My wife is innocent of the sins that I committed," according to the court documents, which were filed Saturday and first reported Monday by Houston television station KTRK.

An autopsy revealed that Riley suffered three skull fractures, but the cause of death has not been determined.

In a statement to police included in the affidavit, Trenor, 19, said she and Zeigler, 24, killed Riley July 24.

The girl was beaten with leather belts, had her head held underwater in a bathtub and then was thrown across a room, her head slamming into a tile floor, Trenor said in the document. She said they kept the body in a storage shed for one to two months before they put it in a plastic bin and dumped it into Galveston Bay.

They should be drawn and quartered. Or perhaps given gasoline enemas and then have lit sparklers inserted.

ACWORTH, Ga. -- Police say they've arrested three young boys on charges they kidnapped and raped an 11-year-old girl in the woods near an Acworth apartment complex.

Police say the boys -- who are 8 and 9 years old -- are in a Cobb County youth detention center but could face adult criminal charges.

"Reportedly two 9-year-old boys and one 8-year-old boy took the girl into the woods against her will where she was raped," said Capt. Wayne Bennard of the Acworth Police Department.

Acworth Police Chief Mike Wilkie said one of the boys was accused of threatening to hit the girl with a rock before the assault occurred.

"This wouldn't be normal anywhere, but especially not Acworth," Dennard said.

Two thrill-seeking teenagers stabbed an adult acquaintance, took a blowtorch to his corpse and threw his severed head into a river, prosecutors said Monday as they charged the pair.

Canton High School senior Jean Pierre Orlewicz, 17, and Alexander James Letkemann, 18, ambushed 26-year-old Daniel Sorenson on Wednesday in a garage owned by Orlewicz's grandfather, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. A tarp had been spread on the floor, she said.

"They lured him in the garage, where they prepared a space to kill him," Worthy said at a news conference.

Sorenson, who had worked as a bouncer, was stabbed multiple times in the back, his head sawed off and his body wrapped in the tarp, authorities said. Orlewicz and Letkemann burned his hands and feet with a blowtorch, possibly in an effort to conceal his identity, Worthy said.

"They made plans on how they were to clean up the blood," she said. "They made plans on how they were going to dispose of the body."

The teens loaded Sorenson's torso in a pickup truck, dumped it in a cul-de-sac and set it on fire using gasoline, Worthy said. A utility crew found it Thursday morning, police said.

Sorenson's head was found Saturday in the Rouge River.

His history as a registered sex offender in Michigan and Illinois and the fact that he may have owed his attackers a small amount of money appear to have had nothing to do with his death, Worthy said.

Sorenson was convicted in Illinois when he was 17 of having sex with a 14-year-old girl, said Northville Township police Lt. Greg Rhodes.

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee mother has been charged with drowning her 5-month-old son inside her apartment near 25th and Wells streets last month.

According to the criminal complaint, police found a notebook in Arkisha Johnson's home with a note saying that God told her to give the baby to him.

Johnson did not have legal custody of the child at the time.

Investigators said she had lost custody of the baby in July because of her mental health but was given an unsupervised visit last month. Police said the baby died less than two hours after the social worker with child welfare services dropped the boy off at 10 a.m.

Citing records of special education classes, Logan County Prosecutor Brian Abraham requested a guardian ad litem for 20-year-old Megan Williams on Wednesday.

"She may not be competent and realize what is going on,'' Abraham told The Logan Banner.

Carmen Williams, Megan's adoptive mother, has said that her daughter is "slow.''

Abraham also is wary of further media attention, voicing objection to Carmen Williams' decision to speak to the media from the hospital soon after her daughter's Sept. 8 rescue. The family also went against his advice and participated in a hate crimes awareness march in Charleston on Nov. 3.

An 8-year-old girl who consistently spent the night with a 47-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting her and drinking her urine told her mother what was happening, but the mom didnâ??t think it was a problem, according to the Boulder County Sheriffâ??s Office.

Joseph S. Cardillo, of Niwot, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by a person in position of trust, and is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond at the Boulder County Jail.

Investigators are considering whether to charge the mother, whose name authorities would not release to protect the victimâ??s identity, Boulder County sheriffâ??s Cmdr. Phil West said. He said she may be mentally ill.

According to the warrant, the mother told detectives she met Cardillo at a Hare Krishna meeting in Boulder. She told them sheâ??d never been to his basement home in the 8100 block of Centrebridge Drive, but met him in public places every Saturday for the past year so he could take the girl home for sleepovers.

The girl told authorities that Cardillo, whom she calls Jamuna, caught her urine in cupped hands to drink it and used a sex toy on her. They slept in the same bed together, usually naked, and would bathe together. She said Cardillo told her not to tell anyone.

But the girlâ??s mother told authorities her daughter did tell her what was happening, but she didnâ??t think it was a problem as long as it was touching and not sex, the warrant said. The mother said sheâ??s a nudist and knows other people who drink urine.

SASKATOON -- A man who impregnated his 11-year-old daughter, who bore the baby when she was 12, has been sentenced to five years in a penitentiary.

"I must say, sir, it's difficult, if not almost impossible, for me to understand how anyone could possibly do this to their own daughter, a daughter of such tender years," Judge Ronald Bell said in Saskatoon provincial court.

"She is scarred for life, sir. She may never fully recover from this, it's that traumatic, what she has faced in that period of time," Bell said.

Lawson, who was arrested July 3, denied involvement in the crime before DNA evidence on a condom linked him to the June 18 rape. In his letters he said he, too, was a victim and blamed the attack on another suspect, Tommy Lee Poindexter, 18.

"He had a gun to my head and I couldn't do nothing," Lawson wrote. "If I would of ran I would of got shot or be dead. So I had no choice. He put it to my head and said 'Do it.' And when I stopped I tried to leave. He told me to get back down or he'll kill me."

Lawson was apologetic in one of the letters to Belohlavek and said it was "stupid of me doing that."

"If you would of seen what happened, it's like your worst nightmare," Lawson wrote. "Especially what happened to the boy. And it seems like they were having fun. They were laughing and videoing."

Lawson wants to go home. He said in letters that he is only allowed three showers a week and stays in his jail cell 23 hours a day.

"I cry every night," he wrote. "I just want to go home. I just want to go home."

CHICAGO -- A 32-year-old pregnant woman with three small children was killed when she was caught in gang crossfire as she was entering her home on the South Side Wednesday night.

The woman, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Leticia Barrera, 38 years old and seven months pregnant, was shot in the head in the 4800 block of South Seeley about 6:05 p.m., authorities said.

NBC5's Lauren Jiggetts reported that family members said Barrera was standing in front of her home with her three children after coming home from trick-or-treating when she was shot. Police said they believed the woman was a victim of gang-related gunfire.

"We believe it's gang-related, but the victim would be an unintended victim," said Chicago police Capt. Edward Griffin.

The children, who were 2, 4 and 6 years old, were not hurt during the incident. The woman's husband was in Florida, Jiggetts reported. Police said they were looking for two teenage boys who were described as wearing dark-hooded sweatshirts. One of the teenagers was wearing a mask.

LAPEL, Ind. -- Police said two brothers tipped off by a friend that a woman dying of cancer was taking painkillers broke into her home and beat her with a golf club when she refused to turn over her medications.

Timothy A. Parker (pictured, left), 18, and his brother, Christopher G. Parker (pictured, right), 20, stole about 150 prescription pills -- including methadone, Soma and Xanax -- from the home of Brenda Whetsel, 60, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday.

Lapel Police Chief Dennis Molina said the brothers went to Whetsel's Lapel home late Thursday night after a friend told them the woman, who is terminally ill with cancer, was taking several medications.

They allegedly broke into her home wearing ski masks and found Whetsel in her bathroom, according to the probable cause affidavit. She refused to give the brothers her medication and she grabbed Timothy Parker by his sweatshirt, the document states.

Timothy Parker allegedly began punching Whetsel in the chest before his brother beat her with a golf club he had found on the home's back porch, the document states.

Whetsel, who suffered two broken fingers, several bruises and cuts and possibly a broken knuckle, was treated at an Anderson hospital and released, Molina said.

He said Christopher Parker called out to his brother, using his name, during the attack. That information, including other tips, led to their arrests Friday.
