NEW YORK â?? A father, convinced he was the victim of a voodoo curse, apparently drowned his two young children in the bathtub and then jumped to his death in front of a subway train, police said Thursday.

Franz Bordes, 39, died at Wednesday evening at a Brooklyn subway station. Investigators found several suicide notes indicating he was at odds with relatives of the children's mother, a Haitian immigrant like Bordes.

"They're using everything they can to destroy me, most of all voodoo," one of the notes read, according to police.

One of the suicide notes was found on Bordes' body. Six more were in the home.

(08-30) 13:58 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- The father of a 5-month-old girl who was found dead in San Francisco's John McLaren Park early today gave police information that led them to her body and is a suspect in her death, police said.

The remains of Camille Ferguson, who had been missing since Sunday, were discovered in a remote area of the park, in rough, brush-covered terrain, police spokeswoman Officer Maria Oropeza said.

The girl's father, Anthony Demone Theard, had reported her missing Sunday night. He said someone took her from his car in the Mission District after he left her alone for a few minutes while he went into a store.

But Oropeza said today that Theard gave police information late Tuesday that enabled them to find her body in the eastern part of the park, located at the southern end of San Francisco.

Theard had been taken into custody earlier Tuesday on suspicion of violating his parole and remains in jail. He has not been charged with killing his daughter.

Oropeza said the cause of the infant's death has not yet been determined.

Theard has a criminal record for pimping and pandering and admitted to police that he had been at 24th and Mission streets earlier Sunday evening looking for crack cocaine, but had been unsuccessful in finding it.

CINCINNATI (AP) â?? The foster parents who reported a 3-year-old developmentally disabled boy missing were charged Monday in his death, and the foster father was accused of burning his body.

Liz and David Carroll Jr. are accused of leaving the boy in a closet in their home just east of Cincinnati while they went to a family reunion in Kentucky on Aug. 4, Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters said.

Investigators believe Marcus Fiesel was dead when the couple returned home two days later, Deters said. David Carroll took the boy's body to rural Brown County and burned it, Deters said.

The couple reported the boy missing from a suburban park Aug. 15, saying he wandered off after Liz Carroll passed out because of a heart condition.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted the Carrolls on charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering children, and David Carroll was charged with gross abuse of a corpse.

The boy's disappearance triggered a search that brought hundreds of volunteers. Police later questioned why no witnesses reported seeing Marcus in the park.

Marcus had the mental ability of a child 12 to 18 months old, David Carroll said. The boy joined the family in May and had a history of wandering off, he said.

"We are extremely saddened and outraged about the untimely death of Marcus Fiesel," Jann Heffner, executive director of Butler County Children's Services, said in a news release.

The county agency contracted with Lifeway for Youth, a private organization that provides training for foster parents and placement for abused and neglected children.

Director Michael Berner told WCPO-TV that Lifeway did background and police checks on the Carrolls before they became foster parents.

"We're all heartbroken up here," Berner said. "These people passed muster; they pulled the wool over everyone's eyes."

ESSEX, Vt. (AP) â?? Angry over a bitter breakup, bakery worker Christopher A. Williams apparently set out to kill his ex-girlfriend, police believe. He never found her. But police say he found four other people â?? killing two of them â?? in a shooting rampage Thursday that began at her house, continued at an elementary school and ended when he shot himself in the head.

Williams, 26, was expected to survive, despite suffering two gunshot wounds to the head. He was hospitalized in fair condition at Fletcher Allen Health Care hospital in nearby Burlington.

The shootings began around 2 p.m., when Williams showed up at the home he shared with ex-girlfriend Andrea Lambesis and her mother, Linda Lambesis, 57, according to Police Chief David Demag.

Williams shot the elder woman to death, then went to Essex Elementary School in search of her daughter, Demag said. Though the school was still in summer recess, about 39 staffers were working â?? including the younger Lambesis, a teacher. It wasn't clear where she was in the building, but Williams didn't find her.

He opened fire on two other people instead, fatally shooting teacher Mary Shanks, 56, and wounding employee Mary Snedeker, 52, Demag said.

Some employees were seen running from the school, heads ducked, while others hid.

While SWAT teams and sheriff's deputies were searching the halls, Williams escaped and went to the condominium complex where acquaintance Chad Johansen, 26, lives, police said. Their relationship was unclear Thursday.

Jillian Schultz, 22, a resident of the condominiums, said a sweaty and disheveled Williams called out "Where's Chad? Where's Chad?" as he ran by her. Schultz was in the yard playing with her 13-month-old son and Johansen's 2-year-old son at the time.

Moments later, she heard four gunshots and saw bullets rip through bushes 10 feet away. Then she saw Johansen come toward the building, bleeding from the back and yelling to her to call 911.

He turned the gun on himself next, shooting himself in the head twice before being arrested, police said. Despite the wounds, he was talking to officers as they took him away, Demag said.

A Knoxville woman today was ordered to the dog house after a district judge found her guilty of leaving her cat in a hot car, seriously harming the animal.

It was the second time that Cherie Phipps has been charged with cruelty to animals, humane officers said.

District Judge Eugene Ricciardi ordered Ms. Phipps to serve 90 days in jail, pay a $750 fine, forfeit her cat to Animal Friends, and to not own any animals for a 90 days.

However, Ms. Phipps was not present at the hearing, and officials are searching for her.

She was charged July 14.

With temperatures around 85 degrees outside, a passerby reported to the Allegheny County District Attorney's office that a cat was seen in dire straits in a hot car parked on Schenley Drive near Forbes Avenue in Oakland.

The DA's office notified Animal Friends Inc. Humane Officer Katie Waters who, with Pittsburgh police, rescued the cat, named Tia.

Officer Waters removed the animal and took it to a veterinarian. Tia has been kept since then by Animal Friends.

The cat soon will be healthy enough to be available for adoption, Officer Waters said.

Ms. Phipps was convicted last summer in a similar incident in which a dog died of heat stroke in her overheated car in Mount Oliver Borough.

A warrant has been issued for Ms. Phipps' arrest.

TOLEDO -- He's only 16-years-old, but a local boy will go to prison for a long time, and will be labelled a sexual predator for the rest of his life. This morning, Lucas County Common Pleas judge Frederick McDonald sentenced Cristoffer Curey for sexually abusing an 8-year-old boy at a south Toledo arcade on New Year's day.

The incident happened at Nickel World. Prosecutors say Curey used a toy to lure the 8-year-old boy into a bathroom, then held him captive, and raped him. Curey was living in a group home at the time, and on a field trip to the arcade when the crime happened.

In court, Curey said he was sorry and that had a difficult childhood, including being raped as a child himself. Judge McDonald pointed out that has a history of committing sex crimes and admitted to molesting 5 other boys and a girl. He then sentenced Curey to 16 years in prison for rape and kidnapping charges.

McDonald also labeled Curey a "sexual predator" which means he will have to register his address with the sheriff's department every 90 days for the rest of his life once he gets out of prison.

This is not the first time Curey has seen the inside of a courtroom. In 2003, he was convicted on charges of gross sexual imposition. He was ordered to undergo counseling.

August 20, 2006 -- A Long Islander suspected of dismembering and decapitating a neighbor in a "psycho-sexual" frenzy kept a sick collection of mutilated mannequins and sadomasochistic paraphernalia in his blood-soaked basement, authorities and neighbors said yesterday.

Cops said Evan Marshall, 31, broke into a Glen Cove home through a sliding-glass door Friday and used a pair of carving knives to kill Denice Fox, 57.

Cops said Marshall - who had lived on and off with his mother in the gated community - dragged Fox's corpse to his basement before cutting it into pieces and depositing them in several garbage pails.

After a massive manhunt on Friday, cops busted Marshall yesterday morning as he calmly tried to drive back home. Cops found Fox's severed head in the trunk of his 1990 Toyota Camry.

Investigators said they think Fox, who lived with her accountant husband, Jay, and their daughter, was chosen at random.

Nassau County Detective Sgt. Dennis Barry called the homicide "psychosexual" but declined to elaborate.

LONDON (Reuters) - Police are investigating after the discovery of a baby girl's body which may have been dumped in a bin in toilets at Heathrow airport.

Officers were called at around 10:30 a.m. on Monday by staff at a hygiene waste company in Park Royal, London, after an employee found the body of a baby girl in a bin of clinical waste.

It is believed the bin had previously been collected from Heathrow, a police statement said.

"We await a post mortem to establish the age and ethnicity of the baby," it added "The death is being treated as suspicious at this early stage."

At Heathrow, police sealed off a toilet block in the terminal three baggage hall. The toilets are situated airside close to the baggage carousels.

The area was cordoned off and officers were posted outside.

A DISTRAUGHT dad leapt 50ft off a holiday hotel balcony with his two children in his arms, killing his six-year-old son.

John Hogan, 32, and daughter Mia, two, survived. But son Liam died from massive injuries. Hogan, who has broken arms and legs, is now accused of murder and attempted murder.

The tiling boss allegedly plucked the sleeping children from their beds at their hotel in Crete after a storming row with his wife Natasha, 34.

A DAD who killed his six-year-old son leaping from a hotel balcony on Crete was a loving husband and father, baffled friends said last night.

John Hogan, 32, plunged 50ft cradling his son Liam, six, and daughter Mia, two, after his wife told him she wanted a divorce. He and Mia survived. Tragic Liam died from massive injuries.

George Brown was mauled by an American Bulldog on Monday night on Huntingdon's Oxmoor Estate and was treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

He also had plastic surgery to his ear and faces more treatment this week.

The dog, which also bit a little girl during the incident, has been put down and Cambridgeshire police have started an inquiry into the incident.

"The dog ran out of its owner's house, knocking down a woman, and made straight for George who was playing with about 10 other children.

"The children said he was thrown about like a ball. The ambulance took him straight to hospital where he had 200 stitches and plastic surgery.

"He's going to have more treatment on Friday and the stitches removed so they do not leave holes in his skin.

A 17-week-old girl from Oban is receiving medical treatment for what is believed to be human bite marks, police have confirmed.

The alarm was raised after the baby was taken to hospital suffering from what family members thought was a rash.

After that was ruled out by staff, the child was transferred to a specialist unit at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police have launched an investigation to find out how the injuries occurred.

Waukesha - A 28-year-old man used an ax to hack his mother to death as she slept in the Oconomowoc home they shared in a quiet upscale subdivision, and he planned to go on a killing rampage, authorities said Friday.

Hulgaard called the slaying of Gloria Jean Totzke, 59, a longtime teacher at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, "an extremely violent and gruesome premeditated homicide."

As Mark David Totzke was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, Assistant District Attorney Michelle Hulgaard told Court Commissioner Thomas J. Pieper that the former ROTC second lieutenant told police that he had planned a shooting spree, and that an ammunition stash was found in his possession.

Totzke told police that his mother had belittled him for being unemployed and he had planned for years to kill her but previously was unable to do it, the criminal complaint says.

While driving back to Oconomowoc from Seattle two nights before the slaying, he said he made up his mind to kill his mother with an ax, the complaint says, and decided to do it while she slept because he would have lost his nerve if she had been awake.

Totzke, commissioned in 2003 as a second lieutenant after participation in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, told investigators he thinks he is a member of the Central Intelligence Agency and so was his mother, the complaint says.

Totzke felt killing his mother was justified because it was "what he was conditioned to do and what he was trained to do," the complaint says.
